FAQ

How Many types of ALPACAs are there?
Only 2! Suri and Huacaya!
Difference between Suri and Huacaya?
Suri has long flowing fiber that hangs down the side in long silky strings, the locks appearing somewhat like dreadlocks. Huacaya has a fuzzy teddy-bear like coat with tightly bunched curls that makes for a somewhat fluffy appearance.
Do alpacas make a sound?
Humming is the most common sound that alpacas make. When they get scared they make a screech sound similar to a squeeky dog toy.
Difference between alpaca and llama?
The llama is roughly twice the size of the alpaca and the llama has a very coarse outer coat over a softer inner coat - as opposed to the alpaca, which has a very fine, single coat. In addition, the llama produces far less fiber per animal than the alpaca, despite its much larger size.
Do alpacas spit?
Alpacas do NOT tend to spit at people! They only spit at each other!
Is alpaca fiber itchy?
Alpaca fiber contains no  lanolin so it does not itch like wool. The fiber is very soft and warm.
